“I have just learned with infinite sadness of the death of Véronique Trillet-Lenoir.
A model of integrity, Véronique had made the health of Europeans and our health security her fight, drawing on her university experience and her career as a hospital patrician which was internationally recognized, ”welcomed Stéphane Séjourné.
Ms. Trillet-Lenoir, 66, oncologist by profession, had led a hospital and university career. She had been president of the management board of the Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes between 2013 and 2020.
She entered politics in 2015 by being elected regional opposition councilor for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on the socialist list led by Jean-Jack Queyranne.
Support for Emmanuel Macron from 2017, she was elected on the Renaissance list in the European elections two years later.
Ms. Trillet-Lenoir sat in Brussels and Strasbourg on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.
“His humanity, his benevolence and his generosity which were known to all were a real extra soul for our delegation”, recalled Stéphane Séjourné, pointing out that “his dignity and his courage in the face of illness today force our respect “.
