The Italian Jannik Sinner won his second consecutive Australian open on Sunday and his third title of the Grand Chelem after his victory in the final against the German Alexander Zverev (6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in 2:42).

The world number one has become, at 23, the first Italian, men and women combined, to delight three “adults” after those of the past season, in Melbourne and the US Open.

Jannik Sinner has won his first three Grand Slam finals.

For his part, Alexander Zverev conceded his third setback in as many finals of “major” after the US Open 2020 and Roland-Garros 2024.

The 27-year-old world number two, had benefited from the abandonment on the injury in the ten-end winner of the Australian Open, Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner is launching his season on this first Grand Chelem of the year, winning his 19th title on the ATP circuit.

A shadow, however, still hovers above the Transalpin since it will be heard on April 16 and 17 by the Arbitral Tribunal of Sport (TAS), in Lausanne (Switzerland), in a doping case.

Jannik Sinner had been tested positive at Clostebol twice in March during checks and then bleached by an independent court. The International Agency for the Integrity of (ITIA), which runs the anti -doping program, had accepted the explanations of the player invoking contamination.

In September, the World Anti -Doping Agency (AMA) appealed this decision before the CAS and requested a suspension from one to two years.
