Cyclocross World Cup – Mathieu van der Poel dominates Wout Van Aert once again and triumphs at Maasmechelen

This is the 6th victory in as much cross for the world champion Van der Poel, absolutely untouchable in the plows this season. During this second and last face-to-face with Van Aert, ‘MVDP’ took advantage of an error of the native of Herentals to take the escaped powder, from the second round. Wout Van Aert had previously demonstrated a conquering attitude, taking the race at times.

Once left, Mathieu Van der Poel was not seen again. Alone behind him, Wout Van Aert also pedalled alone to the line. He bowed for the second time in front of the Dutchman, after their first confrontation of the season in Loenhout. The Visma-Lease A Bike runner finished his cyclocross season with two victories in five races, while Van der Poel will run the world championships in Liévin next weekend.
