Friday January 10, the mayor of Saint-Antoine-de-Breuilh, Christian Gallot, inaugurated the first injection into the green gas network. It is the very first commune in Dordogne to carry out this operation.

Present were sub-prefect Frédéric Carre, senator Serge Mérillou, deputy Serge Muller, regional councilor Christophe Cathus and departmental councilor Christel Defoulny. As well as Thierry Boidé, president of the Montaigne Montravel and Gurson community of communes, Jérôme Mermouri, regional director of GRDF Périgord-Limousin, Maurice Chabrol, vice-president of the Departmental Energy Union of Dordogne (SDE 24).

Territorial methanization unit

Christian Gallot emphasizes having anticipated for a long time, with his team, the question of decarbonization of territories. Today, he goes further by displaying his municipality’s “green gas” commitment on his town entry and exit signs.

Since November 2021, Saint-Antoine-de-Breuilh has been supplied with 100% renewable gas, produced locally from agricultural residues, livestock effluents and products from the food industry, thanks to the territorial methanization CVE of Breuilh. After purification, it reaches the same level of quality as natural gas and can therefore be injected into the network operated by GRDF.

It thus provides a concrete response to the challenges of energy sovereignty and ecological transition.

The mayor’s choice is part of a global dynamic highlighted by the regional director of GRDF Périgord-Limousin: “Across the national territory, more than 700 sites produce and inject green gas into the networks. In the department, several installations are emerging, and we are thinking about new renewable energy technologies. »
