Wednesday January 22, 2025 at the Niort courthouse, the Deux-Sèvres assize court delivered its verdict in the case of the murder of Patricia Gomit, 51, discovered dead at her home in Val-en-Vignes on Saturday June 11, 2022.
After three days of intense debates during which the accused, Yunus Cosgun, continued to deny his involvement in the death of the fifty-year-old, the criminal court sentenced the former companion to thirty years of criminal imprisonment accompanied by a two-thirds security period, while the attorney general demanded life imprisonment.
A second trial
At the end of his trial, the convicted person indicated his intention to appeal his conviction; he had ten days to do so. He will not have waited for this deadline: Thursday February 23, his lawyer Me Ambroise Garlopeau confirmed that Yunus Cosgun is appealing the verdict. There will therefore be, unless the situation changes, a second trial in this case, that of the femicide of Patricia Gomit.
