The accused, a 37-year-old Tunisian, was arrested just after the commission of the facts, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday January 22, at the Rambla des Calissons in the Grisettes district of Montpellier.
The alleged perpetrator of the stabbings which led to the death of a 45-year-old Montpellier man, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday around 12:30 a.m., at number 107 of the Rambla des Calissons in the Grisettes district in Montpellier, was referred this Thursday, January 23 to the public prosecutor’s office.
This 37-year-old Tunisian, in an irregular situation on the national territory and already convicted on several occasions, notably for drug trafficking and remaining in the territory despite a judicial ban, is being prosecuted on the charge of intentional homicide.
1.6 g of alcohol in the blood
The public prosecutor Fabrice Bélargent ordered the opening of a judicial investigation and referred the matter to an investigating judge. The accused, under the influence of an alcoholic state at the time of the tragedy (1.6 g of alcohol in the blood), must be presented before the judge of freedoms and detention.

The victim had traces of lacerations and blows to the face as well as four centimeter-sized wounds to the left thorax, including a perforating one in the heart region. A cardiac massage was carried out by the police then by the Samu, to no avail. He was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.
