PORTRAIT – An investigation was opened in Paris after reports concerning videos by Rafik Meziane. His computer equipment was seized in order to verify the content of his remarks and he must be questioned this Thursday by the police.
TikTok, Instagram, Facebook… Rafik Meziane has accounts on social networks and tens of thousands of followers. His profile «Kochihadz75» on the Chinese application brings together more than 300,000 subscribers, a figure which has grown a little more in the last 24 hours after Bruno Retailleau announced the arrest of this 49-year-old Algerian (it increased from 296,000 subscribers to 302.200). Wednesday morning, the Minister of the Interior welcomed the arrest of this man “who called for violent acts to be committed on French territory on TikTok”. But the minister was quickly called to order by the Paris prosecutor’s office which, in an extremely rare reframing, deplored a communication “entirely premature”.
Certainly, an investigation is underway within the national center for the fight against online hatred following a “report on the Pharos platform relating in particular to a republication of a video without comment”
