Arrival of the quinté: 7 – 10 – 4 – 12 – 5
Two days before the start of the most important weekend of the year, with the Prix d’Amérique as the highlight, the Paris-Vincennes racecourse allowed aged horses to shine. This was not the case for the two favorites since Ideal de Rivray (n° 2), driven by Jean-Michel Bazire, galloped more than one lap from the goal, whileInsight Spoken (n° 6) and Éric Raffin were disqualified at the exit of the final turn for gait problems. During this time, Happy Flower (n° 8) did not deprive himself of achieving a well-deserved success since he made his effort thickly, without a back, and was not worried in the end. Unfortunately, the resident of Séverine Raimond was disqualified after an investigation for irregular gaits. Initially good second, Ibis Pettevinière (n° 7) inherits success after having benefited from a favorable course, on the rope side. Author of a most honorable career, the 7-year-old gelding won the most prestigious victory of his career.
Although it lost ground in the initial phase, Gaucho of the Noue (n° 10), not expected at such a party, obtains the first runner-up by beating Haikido (n° 4) and Franck Nivard. Third favorite of the event, Instant Haufor (n° 12) undoubtedly disappointed its takers but ultimately inherited fourth. With all these adventures, Kid from Gaultier (No. 5) integrates the good combination of the quinté which displayed more than 257,000 euros for 2 euros in the right order.
