The defender is expected in Italy this Thursday after more than seven years spent in Manchester.
As has been speculated in recent days, AC Milan finalizes the recruitment of Kyle Walker during this winter transfer window. The English full-back will give up his captain’s armband at Manchester City to become a key figure in Sérgio Conceiçao’s plans.
According to Guardiola, Walker has expressed his desire to leave the Cityzens ranks after almost eight years with the club. Indeed, he almost left after Manchester City’s victory in the Champions League in 2023, but Bayern Munich’s offer did not obtain the approval of the Manchester City hierarchy.
This time around, however, it appears to be a permanent departure, marking the first time Walker will play outside of English football in his career. Reports from journalist Fabrizio Romano and La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that the defender will join Milan on loan with a non-compulsory purchase option until the end of the season. Furthermore, if the Italians want to keep him beyond June, they will have to pay around 5 million euros and respect a contractual agreement with the player until 2027.

-Additionally, Milan will cover Walker’s entire salary during this loan period. Italian sources also indicate that medical examinations are already planned for once Walker arrives in the city on Thursday.
Since informing Guardiola of his intention to leave, Walker’s preferred destination has always been Milan. Conceicao sees him as a crucial part of the club’s rebuilding efforts, hoping this will be the first of several additions throughout January.
His first match is scheduled for the city derby on February 2. That Sunday, the first Milan-Inter clash at the San Siro will take place since the Rossoneri’s victory in the Italian Super Cup final.
In this way, Walker leaves Manchester City having won every trophy possible. His accolades include six Premier League titles, a Champions League, a Club World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
