Will students at Simone-Sauteur college in Bourneville-Sainte-Croix (Eure) return to classes before the February holidays? After the significant flooding discovered on Monday morning January 20, 2025 in the basements of the half-board, the Department of Eure hopes so and announces this Wednesday January 22 that the students could return to their establishment Thursday January 30 :
“Electricians and heating engineers are mobilized and are doing everything possible to ensure that students can return to classes on Thursday January 30,” communicates the Department. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that the college reopens,” assures Florence Gautiervice-president of the Department in charge of colleges.
Because we now know a little more about the damage caused by the 2,600 m3 of water that the firefighters had to empty on Monday January 20, following breakage of the main water supply pipe.
“General electrical panel and transformer submerged, ventilation and boilers out of service, cold rooms shut down, the damage is numerous and still to be assessed,” lists the Department.
-As for the reopening date of January 30, the Department wants to be cautious. “If the total replacement of the electrical panel and the return of heating will take place next week, further damage,
unidentified, could delay the construction site or prevent normal operation of the establishment in such a short time. »
Laptops distributed to students
In order to ensure educational continuity, teachers set up distance learning devices. The Department informs that it has provided fifteen laptops to students who do not have computer equipment, to follow video lessons.
As for the college administration, Florence Gautier announces that it should function normally again this Thursday, January 23 thanks to a temporary electrical installation.
