France and Europe are preparing to face storm Éowyn, which is expected to hit at the end of this week. Named after an iconic character from Lord of the Rings, this depression promises strong winds and heavy rainfall, radically transforming weather conditions.
Storm Éowyn was named by the UK Met Office, highlighting its origin and expected impact on the British Isles. This particularly deep depression should reach the continent at the end of the week, bringing with it powerful gusts which will also affect the French coasts, particularly along the Channel and in Brittany. Gusts could exceed 100 km/h, putting local authorities on alert.
Consequences for the north-west of France
In France, Météo France forecasts violent winds accompanied by significant amounts of rain. The north-western quarter will be particularly exposed, with an increased risk of localized flooding in certain coastal areas. These conditions could disrupt maritime, air and land transport, particularly in the regions of Brittany and Normandy.
