As of February 1, 2025, the price of electricity will fall by 15% on average for 24 million households. However, with a simple change of offer, it is possible to obtain an additional 10% reduction, for an unlimited period. This offer is open to all individuals supplied by the Enedis network, i.e. 95% of the French population. Explanations.
Electricity price cut by 15% for 24 million households
As of February 1, 2025, households with a “Blue Tariff” contract or a contract indexed to the regulated tariff will be able to benefit from an average reduction of 15% in the price of electricity. In total, 24 million are eligible for this reduction. On the other hand, 11 million will not be able to benefit from the dropthese are households with an electricity contract with locked prices.
According to calculations by the CRE (Energy Regulatory Commission), this reduction will represent a saving of €190 per year for a couple and €651 for a family of 4 people.
This drop is justified by the CRE thanks to the sharp drop in prices on the wholesale markets. Furthermore, the increase in taxes and tariff contributions on electricity moderated the decline, without which the decline could have been much greater, between -20% and -30%.
The 24 million households with a Blue Tariff or indexed contract have no action to take. The reduction will be applied to the price of the electricity they consume from February 1, 2025. Monthly customers will see the reduction applied to the next regularization bill. Others will see the reduction upon receipt of the next invoice sent by the supplier.
On the other hand, the 11 million households with frozen prices must switch to an indexed offer in order to benefit from the 15% reduction in the price of electricity. For example, a return to the regulated EDF tariff allows you to benefit from this reduction. EDF’s competitors also offer indexed tariffs with prices that are often cheaper.
The change of offer can be done by phone or online in minutesall without interruption or change of meter. To return to the regulated EDF tariff, it is necessary to call 3004. To subscribe to a competing offer and benefit from additional reductions, you can contact a Selectra advisor at 09 73 72 73 00.
There is an offer on the market which offers indexed prices coupled with an additional reduction of 10%. Thus, from February 1, 2025, customers of this offer will benefit from the 15% reduction with an additional 10%!
It is about the Exclusive Green offer from the Swedish supplier Vattenfall.
