“An indexing mechanism” may be coming
For a SWDE customer, whose average consumption is 70.5 m³ of water per year and 403.50 euros in 2024, the annual bill will be 450.29 euros in 2025. In addition, the catch-up mechanism progressive put in place “could give way to an indexation mechanism” in the future, announced Minister Coppieters.
“In an increasingly demanding context for guaranteed access to impeccable water, it was essential for the future that the price of water gradually returned to a level based on the cost of living,” declared the minister, cited in the press release.
Distributors will communicate their new prices to their customers and publish the details on their websites (listed on www.aquawal.be). Flanders and the Brussels Region have also announced price increases for 2025.
