A 31-year-old Saskatchewan man has been arrested and now faces three charges in the second-degree murders of three men in Lloydminster, on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
On September 11, a father and his two adult sons were found dead in a home in the Saskatchewan part of the city, at the corner of 50th Street and 47th Avenue.
A team from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) was dispatched that afternoon to conduct a welfare check and found the three victims, having suffered apparent gunshot wounds
said Inspector Dean Riou, of the K division of serious crimes during a press conference Monday.
Since the beginning of this investigation, we have been committed to providing an accurate and complete account of the killings and to bringing those responsible to justice
he announced.
This investigation required countless hours of meticulous and tenacious work, as well as collaboration with other departments of the GRC and the municipal police.
The inspector then explained that the suspect was arrested five days after the incident, on September 16, on unrelated charges, and that he had since been in custody at the Saskatchewan Correctional Center in Saskatoon.
Charges related to the triple homicide were laid against the accused on January 18, and he appeared Monday morning in Lloydminster Provincial Court.

An accomplice was also linked to the affair, but the latter has since died of causes non-criminal
said the inspector.
Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers paid tribute to the members of his community. This isolated incident does not define us or distract us from our belief that Lloydminster is a safe place to live and call home.
he said.
He also thanked the GRC for his sustained efforts in investigating these crimes.
