The Simone-Sauteur college, in Bourneville-Sainte-Croix, will have to undergo a serious inspection before reopening. Early in the morning this Monday, January 20, staff noticed a massive flood in the cellars of the establishment. In a press release, the Eure Departmental Council affirms that the firefighters “began to pump out the enormous volume of water which had accumulated over 400 square meters and two meters in height”.
Students sent home
Under these conditions, decision was immediately made to send the students home “before classes even start” details the community which asserted the precautionary principle for the 560 secondary school students concerned. Once the water has evacuated, an investigation will be carried out to determine the origin of this flooding. The event is indeed a character all the more surprising as the establishment “only opened its doors last September”.
