Five similar fires in less than five years

Aubervilliers has experienced five similar fires in just five years. Less than 600 m from rue du Tournant, a 3,000 m2 building, containing textiles from the Rafco-Valège company, on boulevard Félix-Faure went up in smoke in May 2023. The subsequent discovery of the presence of asbestos in the structure only increased concerns.

Fifteen days later, in June 2023, still in the same area, rue Sadi-Carnot, another textile warehouse of 700 m2 also ended up in ashes. This same street was the scene of two other major fires in 2019 and 2020. In June 2020, a 2,650 m2 site, housing a mixture of plastic flip-flops, cardboard boxes and surgical masks, ended in a blaze. In May 2019, a group of five buildings were wiped off the map. The regularity of the phenomenon of warehouse fires is even seen in the satellite maps used by Google, where we can discover a spectacular aerial view of one of the storage sites ravaged by flames, rue Sadi-Carnot.
