The only goal of the evening scored just before the break, by Flavien Mongrand, was enough for Villenave-d’Ornon to overcome Saint-Paul Sports (0-1), still undefeated on its lawn this season and who hoped – on the occasion of this confrontation with the leader – seize a real opportunity to relaunch themselves in the race for accession to National 3. Solid on their defensive bases, well organized and realistic, the Villenviens overcame the Landes obstacle and recorded an eighth consecutive victory which consolidates their leadership position.

“At the end of a match that does honor to Regional 1, we have just ruled out – at least temporarily – a direct competitor while preserving our advantage over our leading competitors. It’s a very positive result which rewards the generosity and solidarity that we have displayed,” considered Damien Bonnave, the JSV coach, after the final whistle.

Arlac and Cestas don’t give up

Visiting FC Portes Entre-deux-Mers, the Écureuils de Mérignac-Arlac, collectively very diligent, bagged a third success in a row (2-1) which allows them to maintain contact with the leaders. “There is enthusiasm and quality in what we are currently offering. It’s very encouraging. The road is still long, it is up to us to maintain this state of mind to hope to benefit from possible rewards when the time comes,” confides, satisfied with his troops, Frank Dechaume, the Arlac technician.

Among the Langonnais in great difficulty in the ranking and handicapped by a string of suspended players, SAG Cestas did not have to (too) force its talent to obtain a comfortable success (3-0) which consolidates its place on the podium.

A week after a heavy setback, SA Mérignac returned to victory (2-0 with goals from Jérémy Diaz and Mathieu Feuillet) against Boé-Bon-Encontre.

Anxious to spare itself some torment concerning its future in the regional elite, FC Biganos cautiously won (2-0 thanks to a double from Romain de Caro) against the reservists of Trélissac FC.
