Australian Open > Tommy Paul, qualified for the quarter-finals: “Davidovich Fokina deserves my applause and my respect for remaining on the court today”

Qualified for the quarter-finals against Davidovich Fokina at the end of his rope (6−1, 6–1, 6–1), the American was very discreet when he spoke on court.

While he knows that he is guaranteed to enter the top 10 for the first time in his career, Tommy preferred to first pay a warm tribute to his opponent who insisted on finishing the match when he could have obviously giving up knowing that he did not have the physical weapons to challenge the American.

“What he did was incredible. Coming back twice in a row after being down 2 sets to 0 is incredible. He deserves my applause and my respect for staying on the field today.”
