World Lightweight Championship: Islam Makhachev without trembling
Called to the rescue 36 hours ago, Renato Moicano attacked the fight without complexes. Active on his feet, the Brazilian even made the champion wobble at the start of the fight. But this alert was short-lived. Having come to his senses, Islam Makhachev then used his special: takedown, ground control and D’Arce Choke to finish the job in the first round.

What a fight! Cousin of the lightweight icon, Umar Nurmagomedovundefeated before the fight (18-0) showed a palette radically different from that of the “Dagestani school” at the start of the fight. Very comfortable in striking, the Russian delivered a standing recital in the first two rounds. Hitting hard several times with his fists and legs, Umar Nurmagomedov also defended well the attempts to takedowns you champion
In the third round, Merab Dvalishvili came out of his reserve. After several failures in the first two rounds, the Georgian became the first man to take to the ground Umar Nurmagomedov in the third. More effective in fighting, Dvalishvili imposed his rhythm in the rounds in the middle of the fight, taking advantage of his opponent’s fatigue to place takedowns. Although having dominated round 4, the champion seemed behind in points at the start of round 5. In fact, Dvalishvili tried everything to tip the fight into the last round. Equipped with almost infinite cardio, Merab Dvalishvili turned the tables by landing several takedowns and playing effectively with the crowd.
At the end of a spectacular fight full of twists and turns, Merab Dvalishlivi overturns the table and becomes the first man to beat Umar Nurmagomedov by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46).
