“I don’t care what a guy who lives in his basement writes on the internet”

Danielle Collins’ journey at the Australian Open ended this Saturday after a defeat against her compatriot Madison Keys in two sets (6-4, 6-4).

The 11th in the world will still have left its mark on this 2025 edition after her upset with the public during her 2nd round against Destanee Aiava and the comments she then had on the court.

Facing journalists after her elimination, Collins returned to her personality which divides tennis fans: “If the Australian public wants to forgive me, I guess it’s up to them to decide. The most important thing is that no one was injured.

Maybe some things were taken personally and they shouldn’t have been taken that way by the crowd, but I think people take life way too seriously sometimes.

I recently heard that the average age of tennis spectators is 65 years old. We have to provide entertainment.

I think I can make jokes, make people laugh and I don’t have an inflated ego when it comes to what is written about me.

I don’t care what a guy who lives in his basement writes on the internet. I’m just trying to enjoy my life. »
