An inmate, escorted by three prison officers after an appeal trial in Besançon, managed to escape on Thursday January 16 to the Bois des Potets motorway area, in Sampans, near Dole. The events took place around 8:30 p.m., when the convoy, en route to the Lyon-Corbas remand center, had paused.
Taking advantage of a trip to the toilet, the man violently pushed his guards away, injuring one of them, before crossing the highway lanes and disappearing into the darkness. Sentenced to eight years in prison earlier today for aggravated extortion, possession of weapons of war and threats, the thirty-year-old was well known to the justice services.
Despite the rapid intervention of a helicopter from the Dijon gendarmerie and numerous patrols deployed in the area, the individual remained untraceable this Friday evening. The investigation into violent escape was entrusted to the Dole research brigade, supported by the Besançon research section. A judicial investigation was opened in Lons-le-Saunier.
-The inmate had already been sentenced to six years in prison at first instance in Lons-le-Saunier for acts dating back to 2020 in the Dole region, before appealing to try to reduce his sentence.
A judicial investigation was opened to “escape with violence”.
