Paris welcomes Gaza deal, calls for two-state solution
France on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire agreement and release of hostages in Gaza, congratulating the efforts of American, Qatari and Egyptian mediators. In a press release, the Quai d’Orsay reiterated its commitment to the release of two French people still hostages, Ofer Kalderon and Ohad Yahalomi.
“More than a year after the massacres of October 7 which cost the lives of 1,200 people including 48 French people, and fifteen months of war having caused tens of thousands of deaths in Gaza”, Paris calls to “return this ceasefire -permanent fire and to facilitate humanitarian access. France also advocates for the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza. The ministry also announces that an international conference co-chaired with Saudi Arabia will be held in June 2025 to implement the two-state solution, “the only perspective to guarantee a just and lasting peace”.
