Despite the firefighters’ speed in putting out the fire, the images show the violence of the flames. Tuesday January 14, 2025, a fire broke out on a high-level service bus (BHNS) on the Tempo 3 line of the Stan network in Tomblaine, setting the driver’s cabin on fire.
The event occurred when the bus was empty of any passengers and was preparing to return to the Keolis depot in Nancy located a few hundred meters away. According to initial information, the fire started in the cabin, just behind the driver’s seat. Surprised, the driver slightly injured his hands while trying to grab the fire extinguisher.
The man, aged around 50, was taken to the emergency room for examinations. He emerged in the evening with total incapacity for work until the end of the month, a Keolis spokesperson told us.
The origin of the fire remains to be determined, but it could be accidental and linked to “an external factor” such as the presence of a charging battery or an electronic cigarette at the rear of the cabin, several sources suggest.
As of Tuesday evening, Keolis launched a thorough inspection of all the vehicles in its fleet, supplemented this Wednesday morning by additional checks carried out by technical teams.
A health, safety and working conditions commission (CSSCT) was also convened this Wednesday, January 15 to analyze the circumstances of the incident and implement preventive measures to guarantee the safety of drivers and users. An investigation is still underway to shed light on this incident.
