Faced with the fake Brad Pitt scam, the American actor spoke out through his spokesperson.
“It’s awful that scammers are taking advantage of fans’ strong connection to celebrities. » This Tuesday, January 14, it was through his spokesperson that Brad Pitt broke the silence after the Frenchwoman Anne was scammed out of 830,000 euros during an alleged virtual romance with the American actor. “This is an important reminder not to respond to unsolicited online messages, especially from actors who are not on social media,” the spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly.

The “fake Brad Pitt” scam
“My mother told me about you, I would like to know more. » In February 2023, Anne, 53, was surprised to receive a message from “Brad Pitt” on social networks. Flattered, she then begins an epistolary romance with “the actor”, where poems, declarations and other videos generated by artificial intelligence are mixed. Problem: it is not the star of “Inglourious Basterds” but rather a scammer who will extract 830,000 euros from him. After proposing to marry him, the impostor asks her to pay his customs fees or even his medical expenses, since he is said to be suffering from cancer. “It cost me to do it, but I told myself that maybe I was saving a man’s life,” confided Anne in the show “Sept à Huit” on TF1, this Sunday, January 12.
Ruined, Anne now lives on 40,000 euros and is today hospitalized for severe depression.
