They met Sacha, Vitaly and Dima whose specialty is recognition. These drone operators take turns piloting these machines every four hours. Meticulously, they observe their screen to identify the armbands of the soldiers they see around a trench. If they are red, they are Russian soldiers. Theirs are yellow. More than ever, we must make sure we don’t take the wrong side.
Completely destroyed villages and fortified trenches where Russian soldiers are taking refuge appear on the screens. “Before, they were ours. These trenches, for them, are like a dormitory. Trenches lost a month ago. It’s a tragedy, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop. Because they will still move forward”assures Dima. Indeed, the Russians are getting closer to Velyka Novosilka. But they don’t attack head-on. Vladimir Putin’s troops have learned from their mistakes. “In Bakhmout, our guys transformed concrete and cement into real fortresses. There, the Russians suffered big losses. Now they have learned to surround our cities by cutting off logistical routes”explains Sacha. These soldiers will remain in position for three days, during which they will remain holed up in their shelter.
On the ground, the capture of Velyka Novosilka, which is 35 km northwest of Kurakhove and 55 km from Pokrovsk, by the Russians would be a further step towards the capture of the entire Donetsk oblast.
