He rounded off the month, and the calendar year, with further goals against Aston Villa and Manchester United and saw off competition from Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest, Deane Huijsen of Bournemouth, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to win the PFA prize following a public vote – his third award for his December heroics.
