Chelsea can thank Reece James. The Blues were set to lose at home to Bournemouth when the right-back equalized in the 95th minute with a sumptuous free kick (2-2). The draw remains bad news for Enzo Maresca’s men who have gone a fifth match without a victory in the league, but it has the merit of depriving the Cherries of a victory which would have allowed them to come back to match their evening opponents in the ranking.
Although late, the result remains logical for the Blues who finished the match with 57% possession, 22 shots (compared to 6) including 8 on target (compared to 3). The Londoners opened the scoring through Cole Palmer (1-0, 13th) before seeing the visitors come back from the penalty spot through Justin Kluivert (1-1, 50th) and taking the lead thanks to a heavy strike from Antoine Semenyo ( 1-2, 68th). With this result, Chelsea remains 4th, 3 points from the podium.
