Soon a truce agreement in Gaza? A ceasefire could be concluded soon, according to Qatar, a mediating country with the United States and Egypt. The obstacles against an agreement would have been removed.
Fifteen months after the start of the war, the families of the hostages cautiously believe in this truce. Feelings are mixed on the Tel Aviv side. These families of the hostages, who should be released in the first phase and therefore possibly in the coming days, are filled with hope. Women, children, the sick and people over 50s could thus be released. These last hours, before the signing of an agreement, are also very trying.
There are also the families of dozens of other hostages who should not be included in the first phase of the ceasefire, men under 50. Hamas considers automatically these people as Israeli soldiers. The families of these hostages are particularly worried.
They fear lack of means of pressure on Hamasonce the first hostages have been released and the army has retreated. They fear that these hostages will be, de facto, abandoned in Gaza, especially since this imminent agreement only concerns the first phase, the humanitarian phase. There is no guarantee that a second phase will take place.
