At least that’s what CH owner Geoff Molson told the media during the inauguration of the Bleu Blanc Bouge ice rink in Quebec City on Tuesday morning. The CH would face the Ottawa Senators on a date that has yet to be determined.
“We’re not far,” Molson said. We hope to play a preseason game here against Ottawa next year. It’s not finalized yet, but it’s very likely that we’ll be here next year.”
Molson also indicated that if the CH held a preparatory meeting in the Old Capital, his organization would not receive subsidies from the government.
Coming to play two preparatory games at the Videotron Center last year, the Los Angeles Kings had controversially obtained between $5 and $7 million from the Quebec government.
“We’ve come several times over the years and we come to play a preseason hockey game and to give people a chance to see the Montreal Canadiens. No, there are no subsidies,” Molson reassured.
More details will follow.
