A powerful earthquake shook southwest Japan on Monday evening, triggering a tsunami alert in the region. According to information obtained via the website of our Anadolu colleagues, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 degrees was recorded in Miyazaki province.
According to the United States Geological Survey, this earthquake occurred at a depth of 48.9 km and was located around 12:19 GMT. Japanese authorities, however, put the magnitude at 6.9 degrees.
-The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Hyūga Sea. As a result, a tsunami warning was issued for Miyazaki and Kochi provinces. This information, shared by the Anadolu site, highlights the additional risks posed by this seismic event.
