Palestinian, ex-Shin Bet informant, charged with murder of woman in Herzliya

An indictment for terrorism was issued Monday against Ibrahim Shalhoub, originally from Tulkarem in the West Bank. He is accused of killing Holocaust survivor Ludmila Lipovski last month in Herzliya. The victim was 83 years old.

On December 27, Shalhoub, a former informant for the Shin Bet internal security service, allegedly stabbed Lipovski several times in front of the assisted living complex in which the victim lived.

Shalhoub, 28, was a former Shin Bet domestic security “snitch” – he was allowed to move to Israel after his identity was revealed.

According to the indictment, shortly after he moved to Israel, his family ceased all relations with him. He then decided to carry out a terrorist attack.

Two days before murdering Lipovski, Shalhoub allegedly purchased a long kitchen knife and spent the next day in Herzliya, searching for a suitable location for his attack, before settling into an assisted living complex.

It was the next day, armed with his new knife and another, that he went to the location spotted the day before.

Lipovski was outside, in front of the center, when he arrived: she had just gone out to wait for her daughter, who was to take her to an appointment.

When Shalhoub saw her, “he took out his knife and stabbed her in the trunk about 11 times,” while shouting “Allah is great” and praying in Arabic, we can read in the document. ‘charge.

Shalhoub allegedly continued to stab his victim until he himself was shot and injured by a security guard at the nearby post office. Having fallen to the ground, he allegedly tried to get up and attack the security guard, who shot him a second time.

Lipovski was rushed to the Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv by Magen David Adom rescuers: the hospital doctors could only confirm the victim’s death.

The state attorney’s office said Monday that it had requested that Shalhoub remain in prison until the end of the legal proceedings against him.

“The person concerned is facing a charge of murderous terrorist attack, already punishable by life imprisonment, committed with serious violence and cruelty,” he said in the request.

According to the Ynet news site, the Shin Bet concluded from the first elements of its investigation that Shalhoub had not prepared the attack at length and that this type of stabbing attack was most often not the subject of meticulous preparation.

Following the attack, the security agency recalled that its informants worked in dangerous conditions on behalf of Israel and that it was the first time that an ex-informant had carried out a terrorist attack once installed. in Israel.
