For several years a network of regular bus named “market bus” allowed residents of the canton of Gournay-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime) to go on Tuesdays and Fridays to the walk to Gournay-en-Bray via the ligne 539.

This service set up by the Region via the Nomad mobility network no longer exists. Since January 1, 2025, it is replaced by a service of transportation on demand.

What changes

If the price does not change, the inhabitants of municipalities like With stud, Cuy-Saint-Fiacre, Neuf-Marché, Ferrières-en-Bray or even Gancourt-Saint-Étienne, Dampierre, Bazancourt et Montroty must therefore call to reserve their place.

Departures to Gournay-en-Bray are at the same times as the regular line. The return to the users' places of residence is set for 12 p.m.

“The minibus no longer stops in front of the Joseph Finance room. But in front of the Post Office at the bus stop for ” explain angry users because no communication is made.

No communication

A closing line which questions “No posters have been made at bus stops. If we hadn't taken the bus at the end of December, we wouldn't have known the line was closed. It was by talking with the bus driver that we learned about it,” remarks Daniel, a user from Gancourt-Saint-Étienne.

What upsets users is not knowing why this regular line has disappeared.

Some of them have, as recommended by the Nomad website, sent an email to obtain more information. “We got an automatic response asking to download an app. That’s all.”

End of a service to the public?

Although he concedes that the Region has set up a line from Forges-les-Eaux to Rouen on an experimental basis, some users feel abandoned and point to the closure of this line from the Gournay-en-Bray market.

“This will further isolate people who live in the countryside and who only have this means of transport. They talk to us about the environment, about making efforts for the climate. But everything is done so that we have a car,” remarks Daniel.

It is a degradation of a service before its outright deletion due to lack of communication. Then, it will be easy for them to say that there are too few users and to end this service to the public.”

Book early enough

Good student, a regular customer of the line tried to book by phone.

Impossible. My request was rejected. On the pretext that you have to book 3 days in advance.

She explains: “I think there are many people like me who decide to come to the market the day before or the same morning when a medical appointment is postponed. For this, the regular line was valuable.”

Still waiting for a response

At the editorial office, we also tried our exchange by telephone. We were put on hold and sent back to the website. We then sent an email back. Like users, an automatic response was sent to us. “We have received your email and our services are doing everything possible to respond to your requests” and send us back to the downloadable Nomad Car Normandie application.

Line still referenced

On the Nomad website, market line 539 is always referenced as one of the 10 market lines under the Nomad Car 76 Network tab.

Which is all the more misleading for users. There is nothing to suggest that it no longer exists. As for the Region that we contacted, we are still waiting for a response.
