A maritime incident causes an oil platform to drift

On the evening of January 11, 2025, an oil platform drifted onto Hwaichat beach, in the municipality of Bizerte Nord, after the fixing cables became detached from the ship that was towing it.

The oil platform came from Scotland and was heading towards Turkey, according to an official source from the Bizerte coastguard region, reported by Mosaïque. The same source confirmed the dispatch of a coast guard boat to the site, while waiting to refloat the platform at sea, and the opening of an investigation to determine the causes of the incident.
