CULTURE. The first cultural aperitif of the year took place at the Au Petit association bar, Thursday January 9, organized by the Saint-Dizier media library. The opportunity to discuss literature and cinema from the Nordic countries.

Every first Thursday of the month, the culture aperitif allows literature and cinema enthusiasts to meet around a drink to discuss their favorites. For this first session of the year, Thursday January 9, Amélie and Mélina, from the media library, led the meeting, at Petit Paris, around the theme of the Nordic countries. “The idea is to address the five countries that we include in the definition of Nordic country,” announced Amélie Thomassin, head of the media library, who presented the culture of these countries which have the best level of education at the world, focused on ecology, nature and the environment.

From Stieg Larsson to Thomas Vinterberg

The participants discussed contemplative Nordic literature with different books such as “Millenium”, the detective novel by the Swedish writer Stieg Larsson, “The Golden Cage”, a novel by Camilla Läckberg, “Rouge-Gorge”, a novel by Jo Nesbo, Norwegian writer, or “The Extraordinary Book of the Vikings”, by Stella Caldwell, ideal for learning information about the Vikings.

Nordic films were also discussed: “Oslo August 31”, by Joachim Trier, “Melancholia” by Lars van Trier, and “Drunk”, a Danish film by Thomas Vinterberg.

At the end, the participants shared the galette des Rois and listened to music from Nordic countries with Abba songs. The next cultural aperitif at Petit Paris will take place Thursday, February 6, at 7 p.m.
