Rory Callum Sykes, child star who hosted the reality show Kiddy Kapersdied at age 32 on January 8 in the fires that ravaged the Los Angeles area. The young man, who lived with cerebral palsy, was at the family home in Malibu. His mother Shelley Sykes announced his disappearance on January 9 on the social network X.

“It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of my beautiful son Rory Sykes in the Malibu fires yesterday. My heart is broken“sé”, she wrote. With his mother, Rory Callum Sykes had mixed up the charity Happy Charity. The child actor was a gamer, fan of Apple products and Tim Cook.

In her message on X, Shelley Sykes explains the conditions in which her son died. She declares that she does not have “was able to put out the ashes on his roof with a hose because the water was cut off” by the local supplier. “Even the 50 brave firefighters had no water all day!”she added. His son, who had his own chalet on the family estate, remained trapped in the flames.

After trying to contact the emergency services in vain, Shelly Sykes went to the nearest fire station to seek help but the firefighters were short of water, she told the Australian media 10 News First. According to his mother, Rory Callum Sykes died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The water supply poses questions as the fire continues to spread in the Los Angeles region. Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom requested Friday, December 10 “a comprehensive independent review” city ​​water distribution services, reports AFP. He describes as “deeply disturbing” the lack of water supply and loss of pressure at hydrants in the early stages of the fires, which helped allow them to expand.

Fires in Los Angeles have already killed at least 16 people. According to 10 News First, Rory Callum Sykes would not yet be part of this assessment. The remains of his body must be found to confirm his disappearance.
