ROME – It was not until the 20th day of the Italian Championship that Genoa, coached since November by Patrick Vieira, won its first victory of the season at home on Sunday against promoted Parma (1-0).

The winning goal, expected since May 20, 2024 by the tifosi rossoblu, was scored by the Dane Morten Frendrup, in the 65th minute.

Until this Sunday, their record at their stadium this season was six draws and three defeats.

In the standings, Genoa temporarily jumped to eleventh place with 23 points.

Since Vieira’s arrival, the club, which has just been bought by Romanian businessman Dan Sucu, has conceded only one defeat in the league and scored 13 points in eight days.
