Tuesday January 7, Jean-Marie Le Pen died at the age of 96 in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine). The disappearance of the far-right figure and founder of the National Front (FN) caused a strong reaction from the political class, including the leader of the rebellious deputies (LFI) Mathilde Panot, guest of RTL on Wednesday January 8. “Jean-Marie Le Pen is not a political adversary, he is an enemy of the Republic“, she said, emphasizing that she did not want to pay tribute to him. Before adding: “The fight against man is over but the fight against his ideas continues more than ever.”
Concerning the numerous gatherings and scenes of jubilation of opponents which took place in several cities in France after the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen, Mathilde Panot says she is not “shocked”. “I find that those who are shocked by what happened yesterday (Tuesday evening),a youth who continues to annoy the National Frontare in a Charlie spirit in the morning and in the evening are shocked that people can make a joke or hold symbolic gatherings on the death of a far-right leader”, highlighted the elected LFI, who judges that “no one dances on a corpse“.
“You have a man who has been convicted more than thirty timesnotably for the denial of crimes against humanity. He is the man of ‘details of History’ when speaking of the gas chambers. We cannot have indignations of variable geometry“, continued Mathilde Panot.
