Macron: France and Germany must play “all their role” for a “strong” Europe, which defends its “interests”

Alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Elysée, French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday called on France and Germany to play “all their role” for a “strong” and “united” Europe, which knows how to defend its “interests ” particularly in the face of Donald Trump's America.

“It is more than ever up to Europeans, and therefore to our two countries, to play their full role in consolidating a united, strong and sovereign Europe,” he declared alongside Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Elysée. “A Europe attached to the transatlantic link which also knows how to assert its own interests and defend them with its values and its European instruments,” he added.
