Three Argentine players managed to advance through the first round of Grand Slam qualifying. Julia Riera will be in action again tonight.
Julia Riera, Juan Pablo Ficovich and Thiago Tirante emerged victorious in the first round of qualifying for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season. The Argentines have progressed to the next round, and with one more victory they will be well placed to enter the main draw.
Julia Riera achieved a remarkable victory in her qualifying match at the first Grand Slam of the year in Australia. The 22-year-old tennis player initially struggled against Croatian Lea Boskovic, but turned the match around, winning in the first round of qualifying after 2 hours and 14 minutes of play, with scores 4- 6, 6-1 and 6-2. She is now looking forward to her next match against Romanian Miriam Bianca Bulgaru this evening.

On Wednesday, the 23-year-old from La Plata will face the French Titouan Droguet.
