Arsenal welcomed the Magpies to the capital for the first leg of the first semi-final of the League Cup.
Arsenal and Newcastle are one step away from a final and a potential trophy to add to their list of achievements. The two Premier League teams met in London for the first leg of the first semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
With Leandro Trossard at kick-off, the Gunners took a real beating at home. The current strong man on the Magpies side is called Alexander Isak and once again confirmed his current good form by opening the score shortly before the break (37th).
Shortly after the break, Anthony Gordon (51st) doubled the lead for the visitors, knocking Arsenal to the ground. Leandro Trossard gave way to Gabriel Jesus on the hour mark, the numerous offensives and attempts by Mikel Arteta’s men were unsuccessful.
Newcastle make a very big move and will start the return match as favorites, with this comfortable two-goal lead. Both teams will play for their place in the final at St. James’ Park in the second leg on February 5. In the other half, Tottenham will face Liverpool, current championship leader.
