Donald Trump soon back in power

The son of the American president-elect, Donald Trump Jr, is on a private visit this Tuesday to Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark coveted by his father. On the Rumble platform, the eldest billionaire announced he was going to Nuuk, but not for “buy Greenland”. Before his arrival, Donald Trump Sr. posted the following message on the Truth Social website: “Greenland is an incredible place and its people, if and when they become part of our nation, will benefit enormously (…) MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”.

The autonomous Danish territory arouses desire for its natural resources – although oil prospecting and uranium exploitation are prohibited – and for its geostrategic importance. The United States already has a military base there.

“I’m just going there as a tourist.”

“I’m going to talk to people, I’m just going there as a tourist”said Donald Trump Jr. The local press ensures that he is only expected to stay there for a few hours, and that no official meeting is planned.

In any case, this visit did not fail to provoke a reaction from the Danish authorities, the country to which Greenland is attached. “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders”Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Tuesday. A position that follows Donald Trump’s suggestion to annex the territory to the United States. “Greenland is not for sale”she continued on 2 television, before recalling that the United States was one of the allies “closest” of his country.
