Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is set to return to the octagon for what could be his final fight.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Cruz is being targeted to face Rob Font in the co-main event at UFC Seattle on February 22. The UFC’s broadcast partner, ESPN, was first to report the booking.
Cruz will make his first UFC walk since a fourth-round knockout loss to Marlon Vera in the main event of UFC San Diego in August 2022. “The Dominator” has won his previous two outings, victories by decision against Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz. The two-time 135-pound champion recently said he wants “one last dance” in early 2025, but it’s unclear whether or not that will be the final fight for one of the division’s all-time greats .
Font recently ended a two-fight streak with a surprise win over Kyler Phillips at UFC Vegas 99 in October. The 37-year-old fighter from Massachusetts is set to make his 18th appearance in the octagon, which includes a sensational knockout against Adrian Yanez at UFC 287 in April 2023.
UFC Seattle features a battle between former two-division champion Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong.
