China: at least 95 dead and 130 injured in Xizang earthquake
At least 95 people were confirmed dead and 130 others injured at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday (January 7) following a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Dingri District of Xigaze City, Xizang Autonomous Region. , in southwest China.

The earthquake occurred at 9:05 a.m. (Beijing time) and the epicenter was located in Tsogo township in Dingri district, Xigaze. Around 6,900 people from 27 villages live within an area with a radius of 20 km around the epicenter. According to official data, the Dingri district has more than 61,000 inhabitants.
More than 3,400 rescue workers and more than 340 medical personnel have been sent to the disaster zone, according to a press conference on the earthquake.
According to the weather forecast, Dingri will experience mostly sunny weather for the next three days, with minimum temperatures ranging between minus 18 and minus 14 degrees Celsius.
