The company, founded four years ago, has added a new service point in Valinouët, with the rental center and some of the vehicles from Destination Monts-Valin. Its other base is located at the Auberge du Km 31, on Zec Martin-Valin.

“We are the largest snowmobile rental company in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and the only one that serves off-trail,” says Gérémy Villeneuve, owner of GV Loisirs.

The acquisition brings its snowmobile fleet to nearly 70, including those intended for trails and those for off-trail. Destination Monts-Valin is now focusing on accommodation, catering and convenience stores.

Triple the workforce

Part of the Destination Monts-Valin team has joined the ranks of GV Loisirs. It now has 6 employees and around ten guides.

“We have tripled the workforce. We kept their team on the rental and guide side. There is a very good fit with us and with our vision,” underlines Mr. Villeneuve.

Furthermore, the acquisition also ensures more hours for employees, who can move from one service point to another depending on demand.

Good position

The owner now believes he is in a good position to develop snowmobile rentals. “Les Monts-Valin is the first place where there is snow in the fall and the last place where there is in the spring. We are really well positioned,” he believes.

The company offers both trail and off-trail equipment rental at its two destinations. However, according to Gérémy Villeneuve, the clientele differs a little from one service point to another. “On the Valinouët side, it’s more people who come with their families. At the Auberge du Km 31, they are more enthusiasts, gangs of guys,” he explains.

Mr. Villeneuve still has several projects to come, but he cannot reveal more for the moment. It wishes to further strengthen its reference position in motorsports rental. “We want people to be able to experience a sport without having to buy the vehicle themselves,” he argues.

From five watercraft at the launch four years ago, GV Loisirs has grown to nearly a hundred vehicles. In addition to personal watercraft, snowmobiles, ATVs and side-by-sides, the company also offers Flyboard sessions and is the only one in Quebec to offer Jetpack rental.

Mr. Villeneuve also recently added luxury car rentals as well as Widescape. The latter vehicle, a stand-up snowmobile intended for off-road use, is relatively new. “We are the first to rent it in Quebec. We have six Widescapes. We want to introduce them to people,” he concludes.
