From the RTX 5070 to the RTX 5090, nvidia has unveiled its new generation of PC graphics cards: price, release date and features

The king is dead, long live the king! Nvidia has just revealed its new graphics cards and the performance announced is nothing short of impressive. The best thing is that we already have all the information on the cards from the RTX 5070 to the RTX 5090, whether it’s the price, their characteristics and even their release date and we have compiled everything in this article !

Nvidia CES Conference: The advent of the RTX 5000

Very early in the morning for us French people, the Nvidia CES 2025 conference took place. It was the opportunity for the company to announce something very heavy, namely its new generation of graphics cards! The RTX 5000 succeeds the RTX 4000 and announces very heavy with colossal performance in gaming, but also in AI!

On the program, we have an architecture change, a new version of DLSS, the transition to PCIe Gen5 and much more.

On the very high-end and high-end side, we will only be entitled to GeForce cards, AMD having chosen to focus on the mid-range and entry-level with its RX 9000.

The power is there with the RTX 5000!

Based on the Blackwell architecture, Nvidia’s new GPUs have finally been revealed! After the excellent cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, we were eagerly awaiting the new generation which should, once again, reach new heights in terms of power.

But before talking about it in more detail, here is a table summarizing the information that has been announced on the 4 Nvidia graphics cards: the RTX 5090, the RTX 5080, the RTX 5070 Ti and the RTX 5070.

RTX 5090 RTX 5080 RTX 5070 Ti RTX 5070
CUDA Cores 21760 10752 8960 6144
Boost Frequency (GHz) 2,41 2,62 2.45 2.51
Base frequency 2.01 2.30 2.30 2.16

Release date January January FEBRUARY FEBRUARY
Prix (€) 2349 1179 884 649
Power (W) 575 360 300 250

Price, release date, characteristics, we already know everything about these cards which will arrive in stores very soon! The CEO of Nvidia Jensen Huang having directly announced a release at the beginning of January.

Among the first important pieces of information that concern this entire generation, we have the arrival of the memory in GDDR7 which replaces the GDDR6X of the RTX 4000. The result is simple and effective with significantly increased bandwidth while keeping the same bus width.

For its RTX 5000, Nvidia is switching to PCIe Gen 5! Another change with the change of a generation for the Ray Tracing Cores and Tensor Cores which move to the 4th generation and the 5th generation respectively. Same modification for the NVENC encoder and the NVDEC decoder which are further improved.

  • DLSS 4, which we will talk about in more detail, is also one of the big new features for these RTX 5000s!

If AMD had caused a sensation during the previous generation with the presence of connectivity DisplayPort 2.1it’s now up to Nvidia to seize the technology that makes it possible to send 4K at 480 frames per second or 8K at 120 fps! It remains to be seen whether the power of these cards will be sufficient for this.

Last element to remember: diet. The new GPUs being particularly demanding (notably the RTX 5090), it will be necessary to use

Detailed specifications of the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070

4 graphics cards and each time results announced as 2 times higher than their 4000 generation counterpart on certain games like Black Myth: Wukong or Cyberpunk 2077 with DLSS and Ray Tracing fully activated! Regardless of the card chosen, the increase seems to be really impressive, although it could be due to the compatibility of the games with DLSS 4. We notice in fact that for Far Cry 6 without DLSS and with Ray Tracing the difference is light. The increase is also very slight on A Plague Tale: Requiem which only supports DLSS 3.

It should also be noted that Nvidia has also planned the use of its cards for AI, particularly for its two most powerful cards.

The RTX 5090 will have 21760 CUDA cores and will be equipped with 32 GB of GDDR7 video memory with a 512-bit bus and a bandwidth of 1792 GB/seconds. Despite its high power, this card has a lower frequency than the others with 2.01 GHz base and 2.41 GHz boost. Consumption is impressive with 575 Watts instead of the 450W of the RTX 4090! Nvidia announces that it will require a 1000 W power supply, which is quite a chunk.

From the RTX 5070 to the RTX 5090, nvidia has unveiled its new generation of PC graphics cards: price, release date and features

For the RTX 5080, we are on 10752 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR7 video memory with a bandwidth of 960 GB/s. The frequency is the highest of this generation with 2.3 GHz base and 2.62 GHz boost. In terms of consumption, we are at 360W, a controlled increase compared to the RTX 4080. Nvidia recommends at least an 850 W power supply here.

The RTX 5070 Ti offers more reasonable specifications with a total of 8960 CUDA cores, a base frequency of 2.30 GHz which can go up to 2.62 GHz in boost. For memory, we have 16 GB in GDDR7 with an interface size of 256 bit and a bandwidth of 896 GB/sec. It will require 300 Watts and a 750 W power supply is suggested by Nvidia.

Finally, the RTX 5070 has 6144 CUDA cores, a base frequency of 2.16 GHz and 2.51 GHz boost. Its memory is 12 GB with a bandwidth of 672 GB/sec and an interface size of 192 bit. For its power supply, 250 Watts will be enough, and you can get by with a 650 W power supply.

DLSS 4: Nvidia’s technology is always improving!

The new RTX games

After DLSS 3.5, it’s time for DLSS 4! With this new technology signed by Nvidia, we will be entitled to even higher frame rates in all compatible games thanks to the power of AI.

Under the acronym DLSS lies Deep Learning Super Sampling. This suite of neural rendering technologies uses artificial intelligence to accelerate frame rates, reduce latency, and improve the visual quality of your games. To summarize in a few words: it greatly improves performance.

If AMD manages to have good results with its FSR technology, Nvidia raises the bar even higher with DLSS 4 which “constitutes a decisive step forward” according to the brand’s official website, just that. Thanks to the 5th generation Tensor cores of the RTX 5000, this technology has a new multi-frame generation functionality. Using AI, your GPU is capable of generating up to 3 images per frame for display.

To give you an example of the result, a game like Cyberpunk 2077 with full Ray Tracing goes from 27 fps without DLSS to 238 fps with DLSS 4!

And of course, DLSS 4 builds on all the technologies already present in DLSS 3.5 and previous generations. We therefore find ray reconstruction, Super Resolution and DLAA (Deep Learning for anti-aliasing) and all the in-game improvements that they already brought.

RTX 50 gaming laptops are coming soon!

From the RTX 5070 to the RTX 5090, nvidia has unveiled its new generation of PC graphics cards: price, release date and features

Among the announcements, we were also able to see the upcoming arrival of gaming laptops from major brands which will be equipped with the famous RTX 50 in a mobile version. The promises are tempting given that these Acer, Asus, Dell and Razer machines which would arrive around next March would offer double the performance compared to the previous generation, but also much better battery management!
