Violent fire claims the life of an elderly woman
The victim died following the disaster which broke out on Friday at his home in Saconnex-d’Arve.
The SIS intervened on the spot ten minutes after the first alert, but the victim could not be saved.

The fire in a house, which occurred on Friday in Saconnex-d’Arve, left one victim. An elder lost her life in the fire which ravaged her home, located in this village in the commune of Plan-les-Ouates, reports “20 minutes”, which specifies that the resident was born in 1927.
The Fire and Rescue Service (SIS) arrived eleven minutes after the first alert at 118, received at 9:11 a.m. Ten minutes later, the fire was under control.
“We engaged two lances, because, when we arrived, the fire was already well established,” indicates Captain Nicolas Millot, communications officer. There was a lot of smoke, the flames were spreading up the stairs.”
Going up to the first floor, firefighters discovered the victim, already unconscious. Evacuated through the window using the large ladder and resuscitated by the firefighters, she did not survive.
