Will we see Pau Lopez again on the pitches of Ligue 1? It is quite possible, according to joint information from several media, including Foot Market for one of the first. The Spanish goalkeeper, still under contract with Olympique de Marseille but on loan this season at home in Girona, is of interest to RC Lens, with the prospect of Brice Samba leaving the post.
The operation would be negotiated around another six-month loan, to complete the current financial year, accompanied by an option to purchase it in the future. This would then involve OM and Girona breaking the player’s current loan. This would also imply that RC Lens would take responsibility for the future, the salary received by the 30-year-old goalkeeper.
A salary at OM higher than that of Brice Samba in Lens
According to the estimates of The Teamit approaches 280,000 euros gross monthly excluding bonuses, or a season of nearly 3.36 million euros. This is more than Brice Samba currently earns in the Lensois goal (210,000 euros gross per month), who is himself the highest paid player in the Sang et Or team.
Having only started once with the Catalan team, Pau Lopez is having a sportingly complicated start to the season. Between Olympique de Marseille and Girona, there was talk of a purchase option for 6.5 million euros. It could be substantially the same with the RC Lens.
