Tonight, the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards will be a star-studded affair.
The awards ceremony will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, as the first solo host in its history.
The Golden Globes will air on CBS and Paramount+ Sunday night Hollywood time, meaning Greek viewers will have to tune in early Monday to watch live.
Emilie Péreza musical thriller, comes first with 10 nominations, including best musical or comedy film, best actress in a musical or comedy for Karla Sofía Gascón and two nominations for best supporting actress for Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana. Just behind Emilie Pérez are The Brutalista post-World War II drama starring Adrien Brody as a Holocaust survivor seeking to realize the American dream, and Conclavea thriller about the election of a new pope, with seven and six nominations respectively.
Other notable nominees for Best Motion Picture, Drama include A complete stranger, Dune: part two, Nickel Boyset September 5. In the Best Musical or Comedy Film category, Wicked et Anora are contenders. Wickedthe beloved Broadway show was a box and Anora a romantic comedy about a sex worker marrying the son of a Russian oligarch, were both box office hits.
Timothée Chalamet, nominated for best actor in a drama for A complete strangerfaces competition from Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Daniel Craig (Bizarre), et Colman Domingo (Sing Sing). In the Best Actress in a Drama category, nominees include Nicole Kidman (Little girl), Tilda Swinton (The room next door), et Kate Winslet (Lee).
In the supporting roles, Selena Gomez (Emilie Pérez) and Ariana Grande (Wicked) are up for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical or Comedy, while Guy Pearce (The Brutalist) and Jeremy Strong (The apprentice) are nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.
On the TV side, The bear is in the lead with five nominations, following its success in 2023. The bear competes against Only murders in the building et Shogunwho each received four nominations. In the Best Television Series – Drama category, Squid game also makes a comeback.
In addition to the competitive awards, Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award for significant contributions to television, and Viola Davis will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.
