Border crossings: new schedules in force in Quebec for 2025

Starting Monday, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will modify the opening hours of 35 points of entry into the country in order to “strengthen the overall security of both countries,” it says.

This text is a translation of an article from CTV News.

The CBSA announced this change in November.

The CBSA said it will now be able to deploy its officers to the busiest points and better process travelers and goods.

The United States will also adjust its service hours across the country.

For Quebec, the border crossings that will be affected are indicated on this map:

“These adjustments are based on an analysis of operational pressures, peak periods and services required at ports of entry, in order to minimize impacts on border communities,” explained the CBSA. “Nearly all of these ports of entry process an average of two or fewer commercial cars or trucks per hour during the hours that will no longer be in service, and travelers have another border crossing option within a 100 km radius .

Here are the new opening hours of the ten Quebec border crossings:

  • Chartierville: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Clarenceville: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Frelighsburg : 8h à 20h
  • Herdman: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Route 253: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Highwater: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Route 221 in Lacolle: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Route 223 in Lacolle: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Noyan: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Trout River: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

These hours are in effect seven days a week.
