Just like “Odi”, Lara Gut-Behrami won the general classification of the 2024 World Cup. The skier from Comano currently has 45 victories, but is still looking for her first success this season. She finished ahead of pole vaulter Angelica Moser and Olympic champion archer Chiara Leone.
No hockey or football players were named in the Athlete of the Year category. Instead, the prize went to the beach volleyball duo Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner. After winning a bronze medal at the last Olympic Games, they triumphed over the Swiss men’s ice hockey and football teams. The hockey players won the silver medal at the World Championship in Prague, while the football team was eliminated on penalties by England in the quarter-final of the Euro. Now separated after nine years together, Hüberli and Brunner follow in the footsteps of Patrick Heuscher and Stefan Kobel, who won the prize in 2004.
